Mobile Mental Health opens office Bayou La Batre Office
Mobile Mental Health is once again providing outpatient services to children, adolescents and adults residing in Bayou La Batre and the surrounding south Mobile County areas. MMH recently opened an office in a building adjacent to Mostellar Medical Center.
“Since Hurricane Katrina devastated our community in 2005, our physicians have noted an increased demand for mental health services in South Mobile County,” Alphonsine “Al” Lyons, COO of Mostellar Medical Center, said. “The massive storm destroyed half of Bayou La Batre’s homes, one third of its fishing boats and nearly all the work. The stresses of trying to cope with this are difficult and challenging for both children and adults.”
Maggie Posey, clinical director for child/adolescent services, and Megan Griggs, clinical director for adult outpatient services, worked with the Mostellar administration to set up the office.
Diane Hall, MS, LPC, assistant coordinator for child/adolescent services, supervises the South Mobile office staff, which includes one full-time therapist, one part-time therapist and an office professional.
“We are already seeing more consumers than we expected,” Posey said. “It’s our privilege to bring these much-needed services back to this area. We will do whatever is necessary to make sure these residents receive the quality care that they need and deserve.”
