Inpatient Services — BayPointe Hospital

AltaPointe operates three distinct inpatient programs at its BayPointe Hospital & Children’s Residential Services facility. Intensive residential services are provided for children and adolescents who are experiencing severe emotional or behavioral disturbances. Hospital services are provided for children and adolescents experiencing a psychiatric crisis. Stabilization and evaluation services are available for adults 19 and older. BayPointe is accredited by The Joint Commission. The residential services are certified by the Alabama Department of Mental Health. Its hospital services are licensed by the Alabama Department of Public Health.

AEUAdult Hospital
The Adult Hospital serves adults in psychiatric crisis. The program focuses on stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and preventing psychiatric commitment. Adults admitted to the BayPointe have exhibited life threatening, destructive or disabling behavior or symptoms requiring 24-hour monitoring and assessment. Each patient completes a psychiatric diagnostic evaluation and receives 24-hour clinical care for an estimated stay of three to seven days. The focus is on returning patients to their homes or to the least restrictive level of care as quickly as possible, with comprehensive aftercare plans.

BayPointe Adult Hospital provides beds for individuals involuntarily admitted for evaluation. Following the evaluation, the staff makes a recommendation to the Mobile County Probate Court regarding the patient’s need for commitment or treatment in a less restrictive setting.
